rome 3

Our last day in Roma!!! So sad!  We went to a market in the morning and then to Vatican city.  We wanted to get some REAL Italian food so we found a little family owned place a little further from the city center and it was really good.

Our street
The door to our hostel
Plants all over these apartments!
So someone told us this is the best Sunday Market in Rome.... I think they made a mistake :p this was more like a garage sale for this little suburb.... A few of the booths were cool
They did have a stand with cool cacti
And my mom would have loved all the beads they had!!!!
Entering Vatican City
St. Peter's Basilica

Toughing it out.... We had to be dressed appropriately on this hot hot day so we went to a little restaurant before entering Vatican City and changed into our jeans and draped our cardigans over our shoulders... it was unpleasantly hot after this :(
Inside the Basilica

The light was doing crazy things

Protectors or clowns???

Eating gelato :)
Another public fountain
Amanda and I saying our goodbyes to Ancient Rome :(

As we were walking up Palatino, Amanda pointed out that she thought she saw a wolf on the hillside... I looked over and was pretty startled.  We both just stood there frozen thinking how is there a wolf right there... and a man walks down with it casually ( not on a leash ) and tells us its his Slovakian wolf, and his pet !!!!! So crazy I pet a real wolves head !!!!!

Some sort of fortification we saw on the way to our family owned Italian restaurant
A pyramid ??
Our fried mozzarella balls appetizer
Cute little restaurant, everyone who worked there was out in the dining room watching the Eurocup game :)
At dinner
My fettuccine alfredo with zucchini and saffron
Topped it off with some amazing tiramisu!

Spaghetti, Focaccia bread, and wine

Obelisk in Palazzo Montecitorio.
We sat at the fountain around the obelisk for awhile.  It was really pleasant there were people hanging out and listening to people playing instruments
